(We've ret-conned that Bill's character escaped from the ghouls when we sprung Ashley. He hopped in our trunk to get away.)
Shortly after we drop Ashley off.... A voice from the trunk says "Do you guys have any beer?" Looking behind the back seat there appears to be a dwarf back there.
I think we picked him up during the ghoul escape. He's quite a character. He claims to be a mage. After some negotiation he agrees to help us extract the target in turn for a possible admission to our team. His name is Otto.
We send him off to do astral reconnaissance.
("And that guy is wearing leather. He really really likes leather, a whole lot.... he's got leather socks."
~ Bill, after rolling 4 hits to assense the folks in the house)He comes back to tell us that there are three guys upstairs and five downstairs. One of the folks downstairs is wired, exhausted, and a bit malnourished, so probably our target. We work out a plan where we come in the front door, clear the front room, throw a flash bang down stairs and clear the basement. I don't expect resistance from the target, but the guards are probably decent.
Will, Otto, and I sneak up to the front of the house. Everying is silent up until the point where Will smashes the door in. The jamming goes down as Des snipes the jamming box they had pinned to the top of the chimney.
We head in. Will shoots the guy in the kitchen twice and he's down. I shoot the one on the left, but he's in full body armor. Otto smacks him with a lightening bolt and he falls over in a smoldering heap.
Otto opens the basement door for me and activates Des' jamming drone. I toss a flash bang down into the basement. Will heads off to the right and I head down the stairs after the grenade has gone off. There are two guys on the floor, one with armor and one without. Three of the guards are still standing and I shoot one of them. He doesn't seem too phased by the first two bullets, but slumps to the ground after the third. I hit a second guard and manage to spin his helmet around backwards.
(Meanwhile, Will is taking care of the guy on the other side of the building. Sadly the guy in the kitchen isn't actually dead, so he gets back up and attacks Will. Sadly for him, Will soaks 12 of his 13 points of damage and now knows he's not dead.)
The remaining guards open up but only one manages to tag me. It stings but I'm mostly okay.
(Meanwhile Will takes out the guy in the kitchen.)
Otto appears down the stairs and takes cover. He hits one of the guards with another lightening bolt. The guards fire back on us and manage to injure us both, but not badly. Will arrives down the stairs and we take out the last guards. We confirm that the un-armored guy is our target, grab him and get out of there. Will insists on bring along some ammo and two of the riffles. Des tries to explain that it's chipped, but I guess they're going to hack it for fun?
Otto wakes the target up with some medical attention. He's rather distressed but we calm him down a bit. Not knowing what to do next, we ask the candy what to do now. It says "
557 seat 17". When we look up the address it's a bus terminal.Otto's not bad with a medkit. He gets most of us cleaned up. Meanwhile Des breaks down the guns and bags up the tagged parts so that they can't transmit.
Looking up the bus timetable and it looks like the 5:57 bus goes to Denver. We get him some new clothes and a good meal on the way to the bus station. He doesn't really want to get on the bus but we talk him into it. A guard starts hassling us for loitering on the platform so we have to move back inside to wait for the bus to leave. We don't want him to jump off while we aren't watching.
There's a moment of ominous silence, and then the bus goes up a massive ear-shattering explosion. We evacuate to the parking lot. Des cleans up the security footage a bit before we get out of there.
I don't know about everyone else, but I've had enough of taking orders from candy.
