Naturally, we delt with the hat first. I bought the purple hat off of eBay and we made the hat band with the fabric we were going to use for the cloak. That worked out really well. Alan did most of the work on the cloak and the broach and I handled the shirt.

I used Butterick 3830 for the base shirt pattern and then I cut the front on the diagonal and added in enough space to allow the pieces to overlap. Then I had to draft facings for the front and all the way around the neck. I managed to get the closure to work and I got the bottom edge to overlap on top, despite all the difficulty with getting the top edge to stay under it. Bleh.

Despite the fact that we didn't have time to make proper spats, I think the overall costume came out really well. All the Jagers at the LARP were very impressive. I guess it confirms my theory that everybody secretly loves Jagers.
